I like that it’s actually incredibly simple, yet pretty powerful.</p>
<p>Using plain text and MMD for the main content frees me to only think about the extras I want to add to my site. I prefer it to having to hack on a bunch of plugins for another CMS…</p>http://fletcherpenney.net/2009/09/multimarkdown_as_cms#comment-7comment 6 on /2009/09/multimarkdown_as_cms2009-10-30T15:14:46-04:00<p>THAT’s a great idea+implementation of a practical CMS…
I use RapidWeaver for several sites that require loads
of css-magic - but I’ve been looking for a simple content-management workflow for my more content-heavy sites.
Thanx a lot!!</p>http://fletcherpenney.net/2009/09/multimarkdown_as_cms#comment-6comment 5 on /2009/09/multimarkdown_as_cms2009-10-18T10:02:15-04:00<p>Test comment with migration of cgi stuff.</p>http://fletcherpenney.net/2009/09/multimarkdown_as_cms#comment-5comment 1 on /2009/10/my_web_server_setup2009-10-09T15:40:54-04:00<p>Before everyone asks — there’s not really any other software for you to download. I added my XSLT file to the MMD repo on github. But really, it’s up to you to design your website if you want to add headers, footers, etc.</p>
<p>I don’t want to turn this into me generating a lot of look-alike sites — I just wanted to open up the concept of a different way of managing web content that might appeal to the same sorts of users that like MMD.</p>
<p>But mostly it’s because I wanted it for myself! :)</p>http://fletcherpenney.net/2009/10/my_web_server_setup#comment-1comment 4 on /2009/09/multimarkdown_as_cms2009-10-09T08:12:41-04:00<p>That’s the thing — there’s nothing to download. Multimarkdown <em>is</em> the CMS. Your entries are stored in text files.</p>
<p>A more detailed description is <a href="/2009/10/my_web_server_setup">here</a>.</p>http://fletcherpenney.net/2009/09/multimarkdown_as_cms#comment-4comment 3 on /2009/09/multimarkdown_as_cms2009-10-08T09:11:13-04:00<p>Sounds great! Will you be making the CMS avaiable for download?</p>http://fletcherpenney.net/2009/09/multimarkdown_as_cms#comment-3comment 2 on /2009/09/multimarkdown_as_cms2009-10-07T14:24:04-04:00<p>Another side benefit. Because I upload the text files to my web server in addition to the html files, you can view the raw MMD source for any page.</p>
<p>Simply add a “.txt” extension to the URL. In the case of viewing a directory, you will need to add “index.txt” since the index.html is hidden from the URL.</p>
<p>e.g. to see the source for</p>
<p><a href="http://fletcherpenney.net/multimarkdown/sample_multimarkdown_document/">http://fletcherpenney.net/multimarkdown/sample_multimarkdown_document/</a></p>
<p>go to</p>
<p><a href="http://fletcherpenney.net/multimarkdown/sample_multimarkdown_document/index.txt">http://fletcherpenney.net/multimarkdown/sample_multimarkdown_document/index.txt</a></p>http://fletcherpenney.net/2009/09/multimarkdown_as_cms#comment-2comment 1 on /2009/09/multimarkdown_as_cms2009-10-05T23:15:32-04:00<p>So, I appear to have comments working, as well as math:</p>
<p><math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="block"><mstyle><msup><mi>x</mi><mn>2</mn></msup><mo>+</mo><msup><mi>y</mi><mn>2</mn></msup><mo>=</mo><mn>1</mn></mstyle></math></p>
<p>And I think I figured out why I was having trouble with special characters in IE….</p>http://fletcherpenney.net/2009/09/multimarkdown_as_cms#comment-1comment 8 on /2009/04/installing_parallels_tools_in2009-09-08T14:18:48-04:00<p>Looks like the latest version of Parallels finally has support for

Sorry….</p>http://fletcherpenney.net/2009/04/installing_parallels_tools_in#comment-7comment 6 on /2009/04/installing_parallels_tools_in2009-08-02T09:44:29-04:00<p>Well, I tried what you did, and I got no error message, but I
wasn’t able to
see any files. After a reboot, I got the error message again. I tried what
you
did again but nothing changed; I got the permissions error message. I
tried ls
-l on the folder and it says drwxrwxrwx. Any suggestions? Thanks,</p>

<p>What <em>has</em> happened to me, however, is that sometimes the first
time I try to
access (usually to write, not read) the shared folder, it gives a
permissions
error. If I wait a few seconds and try again, it usually works. Also, if I
cd
into that directory and ls, that usually tickles it into working.</p>
<p>But I have never had to explicitly change any permissions.</p>http://fletcherpenney.net/2009/04/installing_parallels_tools_in#comment-5comment 4 on /2009/04/installing_parallels_tools_in2009-08-02T09:02:10-04:00<p>I got the Parallels Shared folder on the Desktop, and I can see my
Mac’s Home folder, however I do not have the permissions to view the
contents of it. I realise that is on the Mac side of my computer, but how
should I go about opening permissions for every file in my Home folder? Or
is
there a better way? Thank you for the clear tutorial.</p>
<p>With All Due Respect, </p>

that
the support for the Parallels “file system” isn’t
loaded… I don’t know much beyond that. I’ve only seen
this
error before following the steps mentioned.</p>
<p>BTW - after upgrading my kernel, I had to follow the steps again. It
worked
for me following the directions listed, so I don’t think I left
anything
out….</p>http://fletcherpenney.net/2009/04/installing_parallels_tools_in#comment-3comment 2 on /2009/04/installing_parallels_tools_in2009-07-05T15:19:14-04:00<p>Thanks for the tutorial. I seem to be running into a small error though
after I try to mount /media/psf. </p>
<p>Terminal returns:</p>
<pre><code>mount: unknown filesystem type 'prl_fs'</code></pre>
<p>Any ideas? I’m almost positive I properly appended
/etc/fstab.</p>http://fletcherpenney.net/2009/04/installing_parallels_tools_in#comment-2comment 1 on /2009/04/installing_parallels_tools_in2009-06-07T08:37:50-04:00<p>I am deeply not only grateful but astonished and impressed by the
quality of this tutorial.</p>
<p>It is exhaustive, clear, simple (I’m an absolute beginner, as
Bowie
sang someday), and efficient.</p>
<p>You just bring THE solution to a pain in the a… problem that
bothers
maybe thousands of people.</p>
<p>If I was in charge of recruiting at Parallels, I’d offer you a
job at
once.</p>
<p>Thanks a lot</p>

the syntax. I
am not an expert in this file, and simply learned enough to do
what’s
